Western Michigan bounced back with a series sweep of Eastern Michigan, taking the opener, 7-3, on Saturday and, 2-0, on Sunday. The sweep came on the heels of the Broncos dropping a pair at Central Michigan, 2-1 and 7-6. The Broncos went 4-2 last week with a non-conference doubleheader sweep of Oakland, 6-2 and 1-0. Tara Buchanan hit a home run in back-to-back games this past week, accounting for two of WMU's five home runs.

Kathy Leitke became one of two WMU softball coaches with 100 home wins ... Leitke ranks second in total wins at WMU with 273 ... WMU is 14-6 over its last 20 games after starting the season 1-5 ... Meredith Whitney became WMU's career strikeouts leader now holding the record at 597 ... the former record, 593 by Bonni Kinne, had stood since 1984 ... Whitney's career strikeouts rank seventh in Mid-American Conference history ... Whitney picked up two wins this past week to bring her career total to 53, which ranks third in program history ... Whitney pitched the final inning of WMU's series clinching win at EMU, registering her first career save ... Courtney Rousseau owns the team's longest hit streak of the season (13) and has the longest current hit streak (5) ... Rousseau hit .471 in six games last week to lead WMU ... Tara Buchanan's two home runs give her 13 for her career at WMU, ranking third behind teammate Whitney (16) and former teammate Lexi Jager (25) ... Michigan is the third team so far this season that is nationally ranked when the Broncos took the field against them (Arizona State, Tennessee) ...
