TAMPA, Fla. - The Western Michigan softball team competes at the USF Under Armour Showcase Tournament after its exhibition game against the Netherlands National Team on March 7.
USF UNDER ARMOUR SHOWCASE TOURNAMENT NOTES
• Western Michigan went 3-2 last weekend at the USF Under Armour Invitational, defeating Bethune-Cookman (14-0), Harvard (3-1) and Quinnipiac (3-1).
• Western Michigan has a record of 4-7 through 11 games in 2012 after playing three teams currently ranked in the top 25. Through 11 games of the 2011 season, WMU held a 1-10 record.
• Meredith Whitney became only the fourth Bronco pitcher to throw a no-hitter in program history, recording her first career no-no against Bethune-Cookman. She allowed just two walks in the win.
• Gracie Barstad made her season debut after missing the Kajikawa Classic due to injury. Barstad had a pair of RBIs against Bethune-Cookman for her 13th career multi-RBI game.
• Courtney Rousseau leads the team with a .395 batting average and hit .529 this past weekend. She has hit safely in each of the team's first nine games of 2012 and has a 10-game hit streak dating back to the Broncos' final game against Notre Dame at the NCAA Regional.
• WMU plays an exhibition game against the Netherlands National Team on March 7 in Clearwater, Fla.
• Western Michigan is a combined 3-4 against its opponents in the USF Under Armour Showcase. It will be the first ever meeting against Green Bay and Fordham.
