WMU Softball Drops Second Game of Day at adidas Tournament

CLEARWATER, Fla. - Western Michigan was held to just one run one hit but still took a lead into the bottom of the seventh inning before falling, 2-1, to Jacksonville in the Broncos' final game of day one of the adidas Tournament in Clearwater, Fla., hosted by South Florida.

The Broncos (3-4) collected their first and only hit of the day in the top of the fourth inning.  Sarah Thomas led off the inning by reaching on an error.  Two batters later, Amanda Heckaman registered a base hit up the middle, scoring the freshman.

Thomas' twin sister, Megan took a shut out into the bottom of the seventh inning but Jacksonville produced a pair of runs in its last at bat to take the game away from WMU.  The first two JU batters reached base safely and two batters later the matter was settled with a two-RBI single through second base on a 3-2 pitch.

Western Michigan battles North Carolina at 1 p.m.
