  • Captain and most valuable player of 1942 squad that had 5-1 record.
  • First-string center and linebacker all three years and played on teams that were 17-3. Drafted by Pittsburgh Steelers.
  • Set school single-game pass interception record (4) and also tied a then season record (9) in 1942.
  • Served in U.S. Navy during World War II, including 18 months in the Pacific.
  • Devoted 30 years to Flint School systems. The last 14 were spent in connection with the Mott Foundation program, including 1972-77 as assistant director.

  • Only Western player in this sport to compete in the United States Olympic Trials (1984) and the NCAA championships (1995).
  • Received All Mid-American Conference selection four times, the last as a posthumous honoree in 1986.
  • Had a combined singles and doubles record of 142-51. Won the MAC No. 1 singles in 1984 and 1985. Runner-up for No. 1 singles in 1983 and No. 2 doubles in 1983 and 1984. Her 33 singles wins in 1985 is one under WMU school record.
  • Finalist in 1984 National Amateur Hardcourts tournament and ranked as nation’s No. 1 amateur player the same year.
  • Played on teams that had a combined record of 64-26 and shared the 1984 MAC title and placed second in 1983 and 1985.
