- Set WMU season records in receptions (74), receiving yards (1,113 and 1,121), and touchdown receptions (11)
- Tied the then-program record for receiving touchdowns in a game with three
- Helped WMU to a MAC Championship Game appearance (2000)
Manny Newsome

- 1964 All-American and three-time All-American Conference first-team selection.
- Holds school career record for points (1,786), field goals (729) and per game scoring average (26.3)
- Owns Western Michigan season point record (653 in 1964) and per game scoring average (32.2) and is former record holder for field goals (262 in 1964). Twice led MAC in scoring and finished second in other season.
- Held positions as assistant dean for student activities at Indiana State University and as dean of student affairs at the University of Toledo.
- Charter inductee into Mid-American Conference Hall of Fame (1988).
