Volleyball Announces Addition of Transfer Charley Andrews

KALAMAZOO, Mich. –  With the start of practice just days away, Western Michigan volleyball and head coach Colleen Munson announced the addition of Michigan State transfer Charley Andrews to the 2019-20 roster.

Andrews was a four-year letterwinner in volleyball at Harper Creek High School where in 2016 she was named an honorable mention Under Armour All-American along with being named First Team All-State, Region, Conference and District. Andrews during her senior season was also a Miss Michigan Volleyball candidate.

During her prep career, Andrews was a three-time All-Conference and All-District honoree and was named First Team All-State twice. Andrews helped lead Harper Creek to four straight District championships and three straight Regional championships.

After high school, Andrews went to Michigan State to compete in Track & Field, competing in multiple events including the 800m, high jump, long jump, shot put and pentathlon. In 2018, Andrews grabbed her first career pentathlon victory with 3,803 points at the Power Five Invitational and followed that up with a 14th place finish in the pentathlon at the Big Ten Championships.

Last season Andrews earned Academic All-Big Ten honors and will pursue a degree in exercise science at Western Michigan. Charley is the daughter of Damian and Jenny Andrews and brother, Jake, played soccer at Spring Arbor University.
