KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Former Western Michigan men's basketball guard
Thomas Wilder has been selected as one of 64 college seniors to play in the prestigious Portsmouth Invitational, April 11-14.
The four-day, 12-game tournament will be played in Portsmouth, Va. and will be attended by representatives from all 30 NBA teams, as well as scouts from various international leagues. Last year, six players who competed at the Portsmouth Invitational were taken in the NBA Draft.
Wilder becomes the fifth player in school history to compete at the tournament, joining

Wilder's career in the Brown & Gold will go down as one of the greatest of all-time as the Montgomery, Ill., native is just the second player in school history to eclipse 2,000 career points. Wilder is the only player in program history to rank in the top ten in career points, field goals made, field goals attempted, three-pointers made, free-throws made, free-throws attempted, steals and assists.
In 2017-18, Wilder earned First Team NABC All-District honors along with being named First Team All-MAC for the second year in a row. Wilder became the first Bronco since 1981-82 to earn back-to-back First Team All-MAC honors.
Averaging 18.8 points per game, Wilder finished second in the MAC in scoring while finishing third in assists and steals. Overall the 6'3" guard scored in double figures in 30 of the 32 games in 2017-18 including a career-high 40 against Toledo on Jan.23.
