KALAMAZOO, Mich.- Three different Broncos hit home runs and junior pitcher
Jordan Kurth struck out seven in a complete-game effort, leading the Western Michigan softball team to a 9-2 win over Akron Saturday. WMU and Akron will finish the three-game Mid-American Conference series with a doubleheader on Sunday, beginning at noon.

Akron scored the first two runs of the game, plating two in the top of the third off of a pair of doubles, a fielder's choice and a single.
Western Michigan fired back with four runs in the bottom half of the third inning to take the lead and went on to score nine unanswered runs. Junior
Brooke Wyman tied the game at 2-2 with her third home run of the season, also scoring
Mackenzie Swinehart who reached on a single up the middle. Two batters later, redshirt senior
Marlee Wilson hit a two-run home run for her fifth long ball of the year. Wilson's home run scored
Samantha Coffel who had reached on a single.
After taking the 4-2 lead in the third, Western Michigan added three runs in the fourth and two more in the sixth. Wyman picked up two more RBIs in the fourth with a two-out, two-run single to right field. Wyman went on to steal second and scored on a base hit by Coffel.
Junior
Erin Barg entered the game defensively at second base in the fifth and
Jenna Faultersack moved from second to replace Wyman at shortstop. Barg had one at bat in the game in the sixth and she crushed her first career home run, a two run shot to center field.
Kurth only allowed Akron two hits after the third inning. The seven strikeouts were her second most this season. With the win, she improved her pitching record to 7-3. As a team, the Broncos upped their overall record to 18-15, 5-3 in the MAC.
