KALAMAZOO, Mich.- The Western Michigan softball team (25-21) begin its long week with two away non-conference games. On Tuesday, May 1 at 6:00 P.M. the Broncos will face in-state opponent Michigan. The following day Wednesday, May 2 WMU will play another in-state opponent in Detroit Mercy beginning at 4:00 P.M.

ANOTHER SERIES WIN
The Brown & Gold won its weekend series with Northern Illinois after winning both games of the doubleheader on Saturday. WMU won the first game 5-4 in nine innings, thanks to senior outfielder

Brooke Wyman are all hitting above .300 this season. Coffel leads the team with a .384 batting average, .616 slugging percentage, 13 doubles, two triples and 37 RBIs. Williams has the most home runs on the team with 10. In the circle, junior
Jordan Kurth has a team high 11-5 record. Kurth has a 3.06 ERA with 99 strikeouts through 116.2 innings of work and eight complete games.
MACTION
With the two victories this weekend the Broncos improved to 12-9 in the Mid-American Conference. WMU is ranked third in the West Division, trailing Toledo (15-5) and Ball State (14-6). In the conference the Broncos are ranked fifth in batting average (.284), fifth in slugging percentage (.425), fifth in runs scored (208), fifth in home runs (35), fourth in doubles (61), second in hits (346) and first in sac bunts (48).
SCOUTING MICHIGAN
The Wolverines are 40-8 on the season with a 15-2 Big Ten record. Michigan is ranked No. 15 in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association poll. As a team the Wolverines have a .315 batting average and a 1.09 ERA. Faith Canfield leads Michigan with a .410 batting average with 68 hits and 12 doubles. Seven of the Wolverines nine starters are hitting above .300 on the season. Meghan Beaubien has 29-3 record on the season with a .90 ERA through 178.1 innings of work. Beaubien has struck out 222 batters and batters are hitting .127 off her.
SCOUTING DETROIT MERCY
The Titans have a 13-25 overall record and an 8-8 Horizon League record. Detroit Mercy as a team is hitting .251 and has an ERA of 5.19. Ferstle Savvy has the highest batting average on the team with a .347 average. Savvy has totaled 19 RBIs, six doubles and five home runs this season. Ashley Mauser leads the Titans with eight wins in the circle. Mauser has a 3.32 ERA through 126.1 innings pitched with 121 strikeouts and two shutouts.
UP NEXT
WMU will wrap up its regular season play this weekend with a home series against Eastern Michigan. The series will begin on Friday, May 4 at 3:00 P.M. and finish up on Saturday, May 5 with a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 P.M.
