Baseball Travels to Eastern Michigan for Weekend Clash

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan baseball will be making its first trip to Ypsilanti since 2015 for a pivotal Mid-American Conference series against Eastern Michigan, April 27-29 at Oestrike Stadium.

Scouting the Broncos
Western Michigan heads into the weekend with an overall record of 16-17 and 6-7 in MAC play. The Broncos have won back-to-back MAC series and five of the last eight contests. On the road this season, WMU is 3-3.

Broncos Enjoy Success Against the Chippewas
Last weekend the Broncos earned its second straight MAC series, taking two of three from rival Central Michigan at Robert J. Bobb Stadium at Hyames Field. The pitching staff for WMU was dominant against the Chippewas, registering a 2.33 ERA.

All Reisinger!
Redshirt senior RHP Andrew Reisinger has now compiled an overall record of 7-0 with a 2.27 ERA. Reisinger is tied for the league lead with seven victories while his 2.27 ERA ranks third in the MAC.

Grys Bring the Powers
Junior Nate Grys has provided the power at the plate for WMU this season, leading the team in doubles (11), triples (1), home runs (5), RBIs (30), total bases (61), slugging percentage (.610) and on-base percentage (.414).

Sacrifice for the Team
WMU has been one of the best teams in the nation in sacrificing at-bats, ranking seventh in the NCAA in sacrifice bunts.

Double Digit Streaks
The Broncos have two players heading into the weekend with double digit streaks. Junior Connor Smith has reached base safely in 18 straight games while sophomore Drew Devine has reached base safely in 14 straight.

What's On Deck
After it's weekend series with Eastern Michigan, the Broncos will have two midweek match-ups beginning on Tuesday, May 1 at Notre Dame. WMU then hosts Northwestern the next day before finishing off the home schedule with a three-game series against Miami, May 4-6. 

Scouting Eastern Michigan
Eastern Michigan heads into the weekend with an overall record of 15-22 and 8-7 in MAC play. Last weekend EMU dropped two of three to Toledo, scoring just 10 runs against the Rockets. In midweek action the Eagles defeated Lawrence Tech, 4-0.

As a team EMU has a .277 batting average which ranks third in the MAC. Leading the offense charge is Zachary Owings with a .360 batting average. Max Schuemann is second on the team with a .347 batting average while also leading the team in runs (28) and RBIs (24).
