"My heart hurts for this group," commented WMU head coach Ryan Tomlinson. "Our injuries really cost this group a special season. I couldn't be more proud of how we fought through adversity all season. This last stretch will make us better for next year. The future is bright and we will be back in the hunt next year."

After the Broncos dropped the doubles match on three, redshirt senior Barbare Eristavi and Gabriela Slavova won on one with a final of 6-4 but Bowling Green would go on to clinch the point with a 7-5 victory on two.

In singles play, freshman Valentina Sanchez Briend made quick work of her opponent and evened the match at one apiece with 6-1, 6-4 win at six for her first MAC victory of her collegiate career. The Falcons would respond on five with a victory to regain the lead at 2-1.

Junior Denise Azcui picked up her sixth conference victory after defeating Ayumi Sasaki (6-4, 6-4) at No. 3 while Eristavi earned a three set win at one in her final match at home to give WMU a 3-2 advantage. The Falcons would respond and clinch the match with wins at two and four to hand Western Michigan the loss on senior day. Junior Melina Lyubomirova saw her 10-match winning streak snapped on the afternoon in a tight 7-6, 4-6, 4-6 match while freshman Jeryn Jack fell in another three-set battle on four.

Prior to the match, the Broncos recognized lone senior Eristavi who has left a significant mark on the program, after suffering an early ACL injury her freshman fall season. Eristavi bounced back to become number 8 on the all-time singles wins list with a total of 94 victories. She is also in the top-20 of the Bronco all-time wins list with 170 overall. In the course of her four years, this senior is 29-6 during MAC singles competition including an impressive 8-0 mark her sophomore campaign.
