PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Over the weekend at the 66
th annual Portsmouth Invitational, Western Michigan men's basketball's
Thomas Wilder shined in front of all 30 NBA teams averaging 12.7 points, 4.1 assists and 1.3 steals in three games.
Wilder on the weekend averaged 25.0 minutes per game while shooting a staggering 50 percent from the field and 90 percent from the free-throw line. The Montgomery, Ill., native also corralled three rebounds per game.
In Friday night's contest, Wilder played 22 minutes off the bench, scoring 10 points on 3-of-8 shooting from the field. Wilder also recorded four rebounds and six assists. From the free-throw line, the former Bronco guard went a perfect 4-for-4.
On Saturday Wilder had his best performance of the tournament scoring 17 points along with three rebounds and five assists en route to helping his team earn a 114-102 victory. Wilder was once again a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line and was 6-of-11 from the field.
Off the bench in game three on Saturday, Wilder scored 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field and was 2-of-4 from three-point range. In the final game, Wilder had two rebounds and one assist in 23 minutes played.
Wilder became the fifth player in school history to compete at the tournament, joining
David Kool, Mike Williams, Saddi Washington and Shayne Whittington. The NBA Draft is on June 21 in New York at the Barclays Center. Â
