VESTAL, N.Y. – The Western Michigan men's tennis team picked up its seventh straight victory after defeating Binghamton 6-1 on the road Friday afternoon. With the win, the Broncos remain the only undefeated team in the Mid-American Conference, improving to 18-4 overall this year and 5-0 in the league.

Junior duo of
Nick Schnobel and
Eric Olivarez along with senior duo of
Maik Steiner and
Billy Heckman each earned wins in doubles play at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, to clinch the doubles point and get the Broncos started early.
In singles, Western Michigan won everywhere but No. 5 and had the match clinched before Binghamton got on the scoreboard.
Matej Svjetlicic moved to 20-2 this spring with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 6 and
Kennosuke Nouchi has now won his last five matches after a straight set win at three to put WMU up 3-0.
Lenhard Haupt served as the match clincher, defeating Tiago Lourenco at No. 3.
Later in the match, Steiner earned his 169th total victory as a Bronco with a three-set victory at No. 1. The senior needs just one more win to become 17th on the all-time Bronco Wins List. Sophomore
Jannik Opitz concluded the day with a three-set win at the two spot for WMU and is now riding an eight-match winning streak.
Western Michigan remains on the road this weekend, travelling to Buffalo on Sunday, April 15 for a 11 a.m. start time. The Brown & Gold need just one more victory to claim the conference regular season title.
