Men’s Basketball Signs Guard William Boyer-Richard to 2018 Class

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan men's basketball head coach Steve Hawkins announced the signing of guard William Boyer-Richard to a National Letter of Intent on Wednesday. Boyer-Richard is the first signee in the 2018 recruiting class.

During his senior season at Jean-de-Brebeuf, Boyer-Richard averaged 17.1 points, 4.7 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game en route to All-Star First Team honors.
Boyer-Richard led the team to a 14-2 record and a first place finish in the RSEQ first division league and a fourth place finish at the national championships.

The Drummondville, Quebec native ranked ninth in the league in field goal percentage (.478), first in three-point field goal percentage (.511) and second in free-throw percentage (.839).

Boyer-Richard also notched a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds against Sainte-Foy on Nov. 11. The 6-2 guard played AAU basketball with Brookwood Elite as well as Sphere Basketball.

Coach Hawkins' Take: "William is an outstanding point guard with great vision of the floor. William has an exceptional understanding of the geometry of the game, unique ability to pass the ball and possesses a deep shooting range.
"Off the court, William is an excellent student who will continue our culture of what it means to be a student-athlete."

Boyer-Richard on WMU: "I am really excited to join the Broncos and look forward to play with a great group of guys. WMU was the best fit for me on and off the court and I would like to thank Coach Hawkins and Coach Holland for believing in me. I can't wait to put in the work."
