CLEVELAND – Western Michigan track and field's Sarah Anderson was named Mid-American Conference Track Athlete of the Week for her performance at the Indiana State Gibson Invitational over the weekend.
The Grand Rapids, Mich., native took first place in the 1,500-meter run after recording a time of 4:26.43. The time was both a Gibson Invitational record and a Gibson Track and Field Complex record. Anderson's time ranks fifth in the MAC in the 1,500. She ran a slightly faster time earlier in the season and currently ranks fourth overall. Anderson's win contributed to the Broncos taking second place in the scored meet.
This is the first MAC Track Athlete of the Week for Anderson.
WMU is back in action this weekend at Auburn University's Tiger Track Classic on Friday and Saturday.
