COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Western Michigan freshman forward Josh Passolt has been named National Collegiate Hockey Conference Rookie of the Week for his performance in the weekend split against Colorado College.

Passolt set up WMU's lone goal in the 2-1 loss to the Tigers on Friday, earning the primary assist on Austin Rueschhoff's goal that gave the Broncos and early 1-0 lead. On Saturday he netted the game-winning goal that kicked off a six-goal second period, finishing off a pass from Rueschhoff at 9:12 in the second period to give Western Michigan a 3-2 lead. He later had the primary assist on a goal by Ethen Frank that pushed the lead to 6-2.

Passolt and the Broncos are back in action this weekend in the NCHC Quarterfinals. WMU travels to Minnesota-Duluth to take on the Bulldogs on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (if necessary). All games will be at 8:07 p.m. and can be watched live on NCHC.tv.
