CLEVELAND – The Mid-American Conference announced its postseason awards on Monday with Western Michigan men's basketball senior guard
Thomas Wilder earning First Team All-MAC honors while junior guard
Bryce Moore was named to the MAC All-Defensive Team as voted on by the leagues' head coaches.
Wilder earns First Team All-MAC honors for the second year in a row after leading the Broncos and ranking second in the conference with 18.8 points per game. Wilder also ranks sixth in the MAC in assists (4.2), sixth in free-throw percentage (.837) and third in steals (1.9). The senior guard becomes the first player since Jim Havrilla in 1992-93 to earn back-to-back First Team All-MAC honors.
The Montgomery, Ill., on Saturday against Central Michigan became the second player in school history to score 2,000 career points, joining WMU's all-time leading scorer
David Kool. Wilder's 582 points this season ranks as the 11
th most in a single-season in school history while his 60 steals rank as fourth most. Wilder needs just seven rebounds to become the only current player in the NCAA to have 2,000 career points, 500 rebounds, 400 assists and 175 steals.
Bryce Moore earned All-MAC Defensive Team honors, ranking second on the team with 36 steals. Moore has registered five games this season of at least three steals and 10 games with at least two steals. Moore ranks 15
th in the MAC with 1.2 steals per game.
A native of Indianapolis, Ind., Moore was named one of the 30 best "in-your-grill" defenders in the nation by ESPN college basketball analyst Jay Bilas. Offensively the junior guard leads WMU with 60 three's made and ranks 15
th in the MAC with a .385 three-point field goal percentage.
