DEKALB, Ill.- The Western Michigan gymnastics team fell at Northern Illinois Sunday in a Mid-American Conference dual meet, 195.725 to 194.400. WMU returns home to host Ball State on Senior Day, Saturday, March 10 at 4 p.m.
The Broncos started off the meet with a 48.725 on the uneven bars and scored a 48.475 in the second rotation on vault. Western Michigan had an overall score of 146.150 through three rotations after totaling a 48.950 on the floor exercise and finished the afternoon with a 48.250 on the balance beam.
Senior
Kira Hoy was the individual champion with a 9.850 on the beam and senior
Jessica Juncaj was the runner-up with a 9.800.
Two other Broncos had second-place finishes. Freshman
Stacie Harrison scored a career-high 9.900 on the floor, which also tied a team season-high. Junior
Rachael Underwood placed second on the vault with a 9.800. Underwood also took fourth on the floor with a 9.850 and had a 38.650 to place third in the all-around.
Juncaj had WMU's top finish on the bars, taking fourth with a 9.800, followed by
Kelsey Hood and Underwood in a tie for fifth with a 9.750.
