KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Western Michigan men's tennis team defeated both Chicago-Illinois (7-0) and Wayne State (6-1) on Tuesday to remain undefeated at home this season. The Broncos improve their overall record to 16-4 all while being 10-0 at home.

The Broncos began the day sweeping UIC in the earlier match. Western Michigan got things started in doubles, clinching the point at No. 2. Seniors Maik Steiner and Billy Heckman picked up their first win together as they defeated Hedstrom/William 6-2 to give WMU the 1-0 lead.
In singles against the Flames, the Brown & Gold picked up wins at four and one while Lenhard Haupt became the match clincher at three with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Hedstrom. Nick Schnobel, Kennosuke Nouchi and Matej Svjetlicic followed suite with straight set wins all in that order.
In the second match of the day, the Broncos defeated the Warriors of Wayne State 6-1. WMU swept the doubles point behind a win from Steiner/ Heckman at the two spot for their second win of the day together.
In singles, Western Michigan got wins from Opitz, Nouchi, Haupt, Olivarez, and Zac Faveri. Svjetlicic saw his eight-match winning streak snapped against his Warrior opponent at the five spot and is now 18-2 this spring.
The Brown & Gold will have a week off before facing off against Mid-American Conference foe Ball State on Saturday, April 7. The Broncos will honor seniors Heckman and Steiner before first serve at 2 p.m.
