TOLEDO, Ohio – In a neutral site competition against the Mid-American Conference reigning tournament champions Buffalo, the No. 45-ranked Western Michigan men's tennis team defeated the Bulls 5-2 in its second conference match of the season. The Broncos improve to 13-4 overall and 2-0 in league play.

The Broncos got started at No. 3 doubles with a win from
Eric Olivarez and
Nick Schnobel as the two are now 13-6 overall and 7-3 in spring play, defeating Fridell/Johnson 6-1. The team of Jannik Opitiz and
Kennosuke Nouchi clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win at No. 1.
In singles play, Western Michigan picked up wins from three and one to start. Opitz defeated Petr Vodak 6-2, 6-2 while No. 113-ranked senior
Maik Steiner won his match to put the Broncos up 3-0. Junior Matej Svjeliticic continued his strong singles play and picked up his seventh win in a row against Nickolas Frisk at No. 6 to clinch that match. Olivarez and
Lenhard Haupt also picked up wins for the Brown & Gold.
Western Michigan continues MAC play next Friday, March 23, hosting Northern Illinois at 1 p.m. Admission to all home tennis matches is free.
