SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Western Michigan hockey senior defenseman Neal Goff has signed an amateur tryout offer with the AHL's San Antonio Rampage, an affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche.
Goff is the first of the WMU senior class to pursue a career in professional hockey. Aidan Muir is expected to take part in the Edmonton Oiler's camp this summer after fully recovering from injuries. Scott Moldenhauer missed the final two weeks of the season due to injuries and will be evaluating his options once he is fully recovered. Paul Stoykewych is also considering pursuing a career in hockey.
Goff appeared in 133 career games as a Bronco, scoring 22 points on eight goals and 14 assist from the blue line. The defenseman had a career-best point output his senior year, scoring nine points on three goals and six assists.
"I'm very excited to begin my pro career in San Antonio," said Goff. "It just makes me think of how lucky I am to have had such an incredible school to go to and play for, and an outstanding coach in Coach Murray. He helped me develop so much as a player and a person. It also makes me think about my family and how many sacrifices they've made to support me over the years."
Goff, along with Moldenhauer, Muir and Stoykewych are on schedule to graduate in April. All four were National Collegiate Hockey Conference All-Academic Team selections, while Moldenhauer, Muir and Stoykewych earned NCHC Scholar Athlete honors.
