KALAMAZOO, Mich.- After taking a hiatus last week for the university's annual Spring Break, the Western Michigan football team went back to work this week continuing its Spring practice.

WMU had five practices before the break and returns for the remaining 10 sessions which will carry through to the end of the month. With Monday and Tuesday's practice of this week already in the books, the Broncos are at the midway point and through seven of the 15 total sessions. WMU will also get out Thursday (3/15) and Saturday (3/17) of this week and go three days a week over the two remaining weeks of March.

In other Bronco football news Tuesday, WMU announced the hiring of assistant coach Nick Sanchez. Sanchez will work with the cornerbacks. Read a full release on Sanchez here.

Over the Spring period, wmubroncos.com will feature weekly player and coach interviews, as well as photos and a behind the scenes mic'd up series on our social media outlets. Be sure to follow us on Twitter: @wmu_football and Facebook: facebook.com/wmufootball.

Today head coach Tim Lester spoke about competition growing between the offense and defense, the focuses of practices moving forward, the hiring of Nick Sanchez and the health of the Bronco secondary. Sophomore offensive lineman Mike Caliendo also joined us to comment on his development and striving to be a leader.
