KALAMAZOO, Mich.-Â The No. 39-ranked Western Michigan men's tennis team (11-2) prepares for a two matches this weekend, playing at Penn State on Friday, March 2 starting at 5:00 P.M. before traveling to Princeton on Sunday, March 4 at 3:00 P.M.

The Broncos were recently tabbed as No. 39 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings that came out on Tuesday, Feb. 27. Last weekend, the Broncos went 3-0 after defeating Valparaiso, Dayton and Ferris State to improve to 11-2 overall and 7-0 at home.
Penn State is coming off two victories last weekend against VCU (5-0) and James Madison (6-1).  The Nittany Lions have an overall record of 5-4, one of their victories came against fellow Mid-American Conference opponent Buffalo (7-0).
Princeton comes in at 8-5 so far this season, including winning two of three last weekend with wins at Rice and Auburn. The Tigers defeated Michigan State earlier in the year (5-2), a team the Broncos defeated as well.  Â
In doubles, the duo of Eric Olivarez and Nick Schnobel lead the team in wins with a 12-4 overall record and are 6-1 at No. 2 this spring. Jannik Opitz and Kennosuke Nouchi are second on the team with a 4-1 record in dual matches and hold a 5-2 overall record together.
In singles, Matej Svjetlicic leads the Broncos in during the spring with an overall record of 12-1 with an undefeated record at the No. 4 and No. 6 spots. Nationally ranked senior Maik Steiner has an overall record of 20-7 and has been the No. 1 man for the Broncos all spring as the German holds a 7-3 record.
Western Michigan begins MAC play starting the weekend of March 16-17. WMU will play Toledo on Friday the 16th and Buffalo on Saturday the 17th as both matches will be held at Toledo.
