PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Western Michigan gymnastics team continued its road trip in a quad meet against host Rutgers, Towson and Ursinus College inside the Rutgers Athletic Center on Saturday evening. The Broncos placed third with a total of 192.650 in hostile territory.

As a team, Western Michigan finished third on vault, beam and floor while taking second on the bars behind Towson. Junior
Rachael Underwood led the Broncos on two events this evening, highlighted by tying a career-high on the floor to claim the overall title with a 9.900 score. Freshman
Stacie Harrison performed well for WMU leading the broncos on the bars and scoring a career-best on the vault.
The Brown & Gold scored a 48.300 on the vault, as Underwood took second amongst all gymnasts with a 9.825. Harrison followed behind with a 9.775, which placed her in a four way tie with five others. Freshman
Sarah Shirley took third for WMU, recording a 9.650.
The 48.450 bar score, helped the Broncos claim second as a team inside the RAC. Harrison's career-high 9.850 was good for a third place tie with teammate sophomore
Amelia Mohler. Freshman
Morgan Spence claimed sixth off a 9.775 score.
Senior
Kelsey Hood nailed a season-best 9.700 on the beam to help WMU record a team score of 48.150. Spence led all Broncos with a 9.800, which placed her in a three way tie for third with two other Scarlet Knights. Underwood took second for the Brown & Gold scoring a 9.725, placing her sixth overall.
In the event that the Broncos started with tonight, WMU scored a 48.650 on the floor exercise. Underwood scored a career-best 9.900 for the second time this season on the event to claim the title. Reigning Mid-American Conference Specialist of the Week
Kira Hoy took sixth overall with a 9.775 to finish second for Western Michigan.
Spence finished third overall in the all-around with a 38.150 while Hood claimed fifth on a 37.800. Spence had a meet-high 9.800 on beam but a 9.025 on vault hurt the freshman's all-around final score. Hood's meet-high occurred on the bars with a 9.725.
Host Rutgers won the meet with a 194.800 while Towson claimed second off a 194.450 score. Ursinus College rounded up the competition, taking fourth with a 188.125 team score.
The Broncos conclude their three-meet road stint on Sunday, March 4 at Northern Illinois. The MAC dual match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. (EST) in DeKalb, Ill.
