KALAMAZOO, Mich. – After the addition of two matches, the Western Michigan women's tennis team is back in action this weekend. The Broncos welcome Spring Arbor inside West Hills at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24 before making a short trip across to Kalamazoo College on Sunday, Feb. 25 for a 4 p.m. start time. Admission is free for both matches.

The Broncos are coming off a 5-2 victory over Big East opponent Marquette on Sunday, Feb. 18 to improve their winning streak to three and remain undefeated at home with a 4-0 record inside West Hills. The Cougars enter Saturday, holding a 7-5 record while the Hornets are 2-2 and are coming off a 6-3 win over Northern Ohio.
Junior Melina Lyubomirova has played all but three of her matches at No. 1 for WMU this spring and is coming in at 8-9 overall, 5-4 in dual matches and 4-2 at the one spot. Riding a four-match win streak is junior counterpart Denise Azcui and holds a 5-4 spring record highlighted by a perfect 3-0 record at No. 2.
In doubles, the duo of Katja Fevralev and Lyubomirova lead the team in wins during dual match play as the pair hold a 3-4 record, all at No. 1. The two were also able to clinch the doubles point against Marquette with a 7-5 win over Amortegui/Popovic to help the Broncos improve to 2-1 overall against the Golden Eagles under head coach Ryan Tomlinson.
Western Michigan will head south for spring break for their next couple matches in Florida. The Broncos will face South Florida on Sunday, March 4 in Tampa before facing Florida Gulf Coast on Monday, March 5 in Fort Myers.
