COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Western Michigan sophomore forward Dawson DiPietro has been named National Collegiate Hockey Conference Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against St. Cloud State over the weekend.
DiPietero had four points on two goals and two assists as the Broncos tied the Huskies 5-5 and loss 4-2. In Friday's tie he had a goal and two assists to help WMU earn a point in the league standings. On Saturday he gave WMU a 2-1 lead in the second period with his 13th goal of the season.
The four-point weekend pushed DiPietro up to the team lead in scoring, with 33 points on 13 goals and 20 assists. DiPietro had one career game and point coming into his sophomore season.
