Men’s Basketball Hosts In-State Rival Central Michigan Tuesday

KALAMAZOO, Mich.  – Western Michigan men's basketball and Central Michigan meet on the court for the 139th time on Tuesday, Feb. 20 inside University Arena. Tip-Off is set for 7:00 p.m.

Scouting the Broncos
WMU with an overall record of 15-12 and 7-7 in Mid-American Conference play, the Broncos are currently the No.6 seed if the MAC Tournament were to begin today. WMU is currently on a two-game losing streak, falling on the road last week to Bowling Green and Northern Illinois.   

Inching Closer to 2,000
Senior guard Thomas Wilder need just 52 points to become the second player in school history to reach 2,000 career points. Wilder is 174 points behind WMU's all-time leading scorer David Kool.

One of the Best in the Nation
Wilder is one of just four players currently in the NCAA to have amassed 1,800 career points and 380 assists.   

Double Digit Home Wins
With a victory, Western Michigan can earn its 10th win at home, marking the ninth straight year the Broncos have had double digit home wins. The nine year streak is the third longest in the MAC.   

No Turnovers = No Problem
WMU is one of the best teams in the nation in protecting the basketball, ranking 18th in the NCAA in fewest turnovers. The Broncos also rank first in the MAC and 20th in the nation with a +3.11 turnover margin.  

Single-Season and Career Steals Record Watch
Wilder is closing in on the single-season and career record for most steals at WMU. With 183 career steals, Wilder needs just 16 to become the program career leader while he needs 28 steals to register the most steals in a single-season.

ESPN2 Looming for WMU
After the Chippewas on Tuesday night, the Broncos will have a quick turnaround as they head to Muncie, Ind. for a showdown with MAC West foe Ball State on Friday, Feb. 23. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN2.

Scouting Central Michigan
Central Michigan is 16-11 overall and 5-9 in MAC play and sits as the No.9 seed if the MAC Tournament were to begin. CMU has lost three of its last four games and is coming off a 72-67 loss at home to Eastern Michigan on Saturday.

The Chippewas rank third in the MAC in both scoring offense (77.8) and scoring defense (71.6). CMU is currently the best team in the conference in converting at the free-throw line, leading the MAC with a .800 free-throw percentage. CMU has four players averaging in double figures with Shawn Roundtree leading the way at 14.9 points per game.
