ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's tennis team saw its five-match winning streak snapped at No. 13-ranked Michigan with a score of 4-0 in its first match against a nationally ranked team this season. The loss hands the Broncos just their second of the spring and are now 8-2 overall and 2-1 against Big Ten opponents.

Michigan clinched the match and handed Western Michigan its first loss since Jan. 20 with singles victories at two, three and five, all in that order. Junior
Matej Svjetlicic snapped his nine-match winning streak at No. 5, losing to Connor Johnston with a score of 6-2, 6-3 while Nouchi and Haupt took the remaining losses. No. 96-ranked Steiner had a big responsibility to face No. 42-ranked Hua at No. 1 with the pair going into the third set before the match was called. Junior
Eric Olivarez also took his opponent to the third set at No. 6 before the match ended.
The Broncos prepare for a three-match weekend, travelling to Valparaiso on Friday, Feb. 23 before welcoming Dayton and Ferris State inside West Hills on Sunday, Feb. 25. First serves for the doubleheader in Kalamazoo are set for 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Admission to all home tennis matches is free.
