The Broncos are coming off an unbelievable meet on Sunday, Jan. 28 inside University Arena, posting the fifth highest score in program history to defeat Mid-American Conference opponent Bowling Green 195.675-195.500. Western Michigan is now 2-1 overall and 1-1 in conference.

As a team the Brown and Gold took all but one event on the day, including bars, beam and floor. Junior Rachael Underwood led WMU in two events and tied for first in another, while freshman Stacie Harrison led on bars and freshman teammate Morgan Spence notched a career-high 39.075 in the all-around in just her third meet.

Western Michigan scored the seventh highest score in program history on the floor with a 49.175 and tied for the 10th highest score on the uneven bars with a 48.950 to help the Broncos deliver the first loss of the season to the Falcons.

With Sunday's performance, WMU jumped up four sports in the 2018 NCAA Rankings and are currently 33rd through three meets, averaging 194.842. The Broncos are third in the MAC behind Central Michigan (20) and Kent State (32) while Bowling Green (34), Ball State (44), Northern Illinois (46), and Eastern Michigan (47) round out the conference. The bars and floor have proven to be the best events so far this season for the Brown and Gold as they are ranked 23rd and 32nd in the nation. Individually, Underwood is tied for 34th nationally in the all-around with a 39.150 score.

Southeast Missouri comes into the meet with a 3-6 overall record and rank 61st in the nation, averaging 191.380. Last time out, the Redhawks finished in third place at a quad against Temple, Cornell and Ithaca in Philadelphia on Sunday, Jan. 28. Senior Alexis Brawner was tabbed as the Midwest Independent Conference Gymnast of the Week, winning titles in five of the six events she competed in last week and ranks 86th in vault (9.805) and 93rd on the floor exercise (9.820). SEMO is coached by Brittney Emmons in her second season and owns a 10-18 record at the helm.

Following Friday's meet the Brown and Gold return to Kalamazoo, hosting Kent State inside University Arena. The dual meet is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 11 at 1 p.m. and will be streamed live on ESPN3.
