Davis Earns Second Straight MAC West Player of the Week Award

CLEVELAND – For the second straight week, Western Michigan men's basketball junior guard Josh Davis has been named Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week.

Davis in contests against Akron and Miami averaged 18 points and nine rebounds to help the Broncos go 2-0 in MAC play for the first time since 2014.

In the MAC opener against the Zips, Davis scored 26 points on 10-of-10 shooting from the field along with corralling seven rebounds. The Detroit, Mich., native became just the second player in WMU history to shoot 100 percent from the field, minimum 10 attempts.

Davis also became the fourth player in MAC history to go 10-of-10 from the field and is one of six players in the nation to shoot 100 percent, minimum 10 attempts this season.

The junior guard/forward followed up his record performance against the Zips by securing his first career double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds at Miami. Davis went 5-of-9 from the field against the RedHawks to help the Broncos secure a 67-62 road victory. It was the third time this season Davis has registered double digit rebounds.

The Detroit, Mich., native leads WMU and ranks fourth in the MAC in rebounding with eight per game. During the week, Davis shot 60 percent from beyond the three-point line and 79 percent from the field.
