Broncos Look to Extend Winning Streak on the road Tuesday at Toledo

TOLEDO, Ohio. – Western Michigan men's basketball puts its four-game winning streak on the line Tuesday night as the Broncos travel to face Mid-American Conference foe Toledo inside Savage Arena.

The Broncos are back at home on Saturday, Jan.13 against MAC West foe Ball State in the second game of a doubleheader as women's basketball square off with Ohio at 2:00 p.m. Women's ticket holders can exchange their ticket stub following the game for a free men's game ticket.

Scouting the Broncos
Western Michigan is currently on a four-game win streak and has an overall record of 10-5 and 2-0 in the MAC. WMU has started conference play 2-0 for the first time since 2014 after defeating Akron at home and Miami on the road.

MAC Regular Season Win Streak
WMU has won 10 straight MAC regular season games dating back to last season, the second longest streak in program history. From March 8, 1975 to Feb. 11, 1976, the Broncos won a program record 11 straight MAC regular season games.

Back to Back MAC West Player of the Week Honors for Josh Davis
For the second straight week, junior guard/forward Josh Davis earned MAC West Player of the Week honors after averaging 18 points and nine rebounds against Akron and Miami. Davis against Akron scored 26 points on 10-of-10 shooting from the field. The Detroit, Mich., native became the second player in WMU history and fourth MAC player to shoot 100 percent, minimum 10 attempts.

Defense Wins Championships
Western Michigan has been one of the premier defensive teams during MAC play, holding opponents to 68.3 points per game which ranks second in the MAC.

Hawkins Wins No. 400
With the 67-62 victory over Miami on Saturday, head coach Steve Hawkins won his 400th career game.

Getting the Best of the West
Since 2004, in the first game against a MAC West opponent, WMU has a record of 10-3 and has won four of the last five MAC West openers. Since 2013, WMU is 26-15 against MAC West opponents.

Road Warriors
The Broncos have had success on the road this season, compiling an overall record of 4-1 away from Kalamazoo. WMU has won four straight road games, defeating Saint Louis, Detroit Mercy, Milwaukee and Miami. Last season the Broncos won just three road games total.

Scouting Toledo
Toledo is coming off a 67-65 victory over Akron last Friday and has an overall record of 9-6 and 1-1 in MAC play. As a team, Toledo tops the MAC with its .396 three-point field goal percentage and ranks second in the conference with a .464 field goal percentage.

The Rockets are led by senior guard Tre'Shaun Fletcher who is the only player in the conference to rank in the top ten in points (17.8), rebounds (8.5) and assists (3.6). Against the Zips, Fletcher tallied 14 points along with grabbing a team-high 10 rebounds for his seventh double-double of the season.
