KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan men's basketball will take on Northern Illinois for a 2:00 p.m. game on Saturday, Jan. 27 inside University Arena. Join us for the only Pre-Game Stampede Tailgate of the season at the WMU Student Recreation Center.

The third floor of the rec will be transformed into the ideal space for fans to gather and rally excitement before the Mid-American Conference match-up.

The indoor Stampede Tailgate will feature a tailgate-style food buffet, two drink tickets (beer or wine) and a cash bar, unlimited non-alcoholic beverages, and activities fun for Broncos of all ages: indoor basketball-themed games, live music, and commemorative photo stations.

The first 350 guests will receive a commemorative mini basketball and event credential set. Head Coach Steve Hawkins will make a brief appearance to greet pregame tailgate guests. Space is limited. Limited walk-up registration will be available at the door.

The Stampede will honor Bronco Basketball Legend, Manny Newsome, who played at Western from 1961-64. During the 1963-64 season, Manny averaged 32.7 points per game and finished his career at WMU with 1,787 points. He broke the scoring record by over 500 points in 1964 and held it for more than 45 years.

Newsome is known as one of WMU's greatest basketball players so join us to honor and celebrate Manny's record-breaking career. During halftime of the game, Manny's No.5 jersey will formally be retired by Western Michigan men's basketball.

Tailgate Entrance 
Doors will open to tailgate guests beginning at noon. Tailgate guests will use the entrance across the street (W. Michigan Avenue) from the parking garage. Use the entrance facing the Bernhard Center/The Oaklands.

Guest Parking
Parking is free of charge. We encourage guests to park in the West Michigan Avenue parking ramp and walk across the street to the Student Recreation Center.
