KALAMAZOO, Mich.-Â The Western Michigan women's tennis team (2-1) begins its tough week of matches, with five in the next seven days, starting at Notre Dame on Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 5 p.m. at the Eck Tennis Pavilion.

Last weekend the Broncos split their matches on Saturday, Jan. 20 to move to 2-1 on the season. WMU fell to Indiana 6-1 in their first match but rebounded to defeat Butler 7-0 later in the day.

Junior
Katja Fevralev won the lone point for the Broncos against Indiana to improve her record to 2-0 this spring. As a team, the Brown and Gold are 11-7 in singles matches with three other players notching two wins apiece in redshirt senior
Barbare Eristavi, junior
Melina Lyubomirova and sophomore
Gabriela Slavova.

So far in doubles play, the duo of Fevralev/Lyubomirova are leading the way with a perfect 2-0 record at the No. 1 spot as the team is 5-3 on the spring.

Tuesday's match will be the first for Notre Dame in the 2018 season but last season the Fighting Irish went 18-10, earning a trip to the NCAA Tournament but eventually lost to Ohio State in the second round. The Fighting Irish hold an 18-7 all-time record against the Broncos and are led Rachel Chong, Cameron Corse and Caroline Dunleavey who all had five wins during the fall. Partners Corse and Zoe Spence lead UND in doubles with a 5-2 record.

The Broncos continue their tough five-match stretch, heading to Waco, Texas, to play Baylor (Jan. 26) and New Mexico (Jan. 27). WMU returns home for a doubleheader on Sat., Feb. 3 inside West Hills to play IUPUI at 1 p.m. and Hillsdale College 3 p.m. Admission to all home tennis matches is free.
