KALAMAZOO, Mich.- The Western Michigan gymnastics team hits the road for the first time this season, traveling to Mid-American Conference rival Central Michigan on Saturday, Jan. 20 in Mount Pleasant, Mich. The dual meet will take place inside McGuirk Arena and is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.

The Broncos (1-0) are coming off a season opening, 193.425-193.000, win against UIC at home on Sunday, Jan. 14. Junior
Rachael Underwood was crowned the all-around winner with a score of 39.150 and won three events including vault (9.775), beam (9.800) and floor (9.850). Â Freshman
Stacie Harrison impressed early in her first collegiate event with the Broncos, taking the vault with a score of 9.850 to help the Brown and Gold secure the victory.
Western Michigan is currently ranked 42
nd in the nation after just one meet. The Broncos stand 25
th on the bars with a 48.725 average and 26
th on the floor exercise, averaging 48.850. Individually, Underwood is tied for 22
nd nationally in the all-around (39.150) and tied for 35
th on the floor (9.850) while Harrison sits tied for 31
st on the vault (9.850). Freshman
Morgan Spence looks to improve on her score as she is ranked 62
nd in the nation in the all-around. In her first outing as a Bronco, she went four-for-four with a 38.775 score.
The Chippewas (2-0) enter the meet ranked 14
th nationally with a 195.450 average through two meets. Individually, Central Michigan has three gymnasts ranked in the top-15 in the country including Denelle Pedrick who ranks 13
th on the vault (9.875), Katy Clements is 12
th on the beam (9.887) and Macey Hilliker finds herself 16h on the floor (9.888). Clements and Gianna Plaksa have also garnered MAC weekly accolades so far in the early season.
Following Saturday's meet, WMU returns home to continue MAC competition, welcoming Bowling Green (Jan. 28) inside University Arena at 1 p.m. and will be broadcasted on ESPN3.
