KALAMAZOO, Mich.-Â Â The Western Michigan women's tennis team heads to Bloomington, Ind. this weekend for two matches on Saturday, Jan. 20 against Indiana and Butler. WMU squares off with Indiana at 9:30 a.m. followed by Butler at 1:30 p.m.

The Broncos are coming off a 5-2 win over Oakland last weekend to start their spring season. The duos of Denise Azcui/Valeria Riegraf and Melina Lyubomirova/Katja Fevralev won their doubles matches to give the Broncos the doubles point. Fevralev, Barbare Eristavi, Lyubomirova and Gabriela Slavova all racked up wins in singles matches to help give the Broncos five points and the victory. Â Azcui, Jeryn Jack and Lyubomirova all have four wins this season. Leading the Broncos is Gabriela Slavova with six wins. In doubles, the duo of Azui/Lyubomriova lead WMU with three wins.
Indiana will be playing their first match of the spring as the Hoosiers had four players with seven wins or more during the fall season. Madison Appel leads the Hoosiers with a 10-2 record, followed by Natalie Whalen at 8-4 and Caitlin Bernard at 8-5. Jelly Bozovic is has a single record of 7-1 and is currently on a six-match winning streak. In doubles, the duos of Appel/Whalen and Bernard/Xiwei Cai have each tallied five wins.
Butler is coming off two 7-0 losses to Purdue and Cincinnati last weekend. Three of Butlers players have at least five wins on the season with Nina Bertino leading the way with a record of 5-1. In doubles action, the duo of Bertino and Lauren Marx are 2-0.
Next week the Broncos travel to Notre Dame on Tuesday, Jan. 23 before heading to Waco, Texas for the weekend to challenge Baylor (Jan. 26) and New Mexico (Jan. 27).
