KALAMAZOO, Mich.- The Western Michigan men's tennis team won both of its matches today inside West Hills against Xavier (6-1) and Detroit Mercy (5-2) as the Broncos start the spring season 2-0.

The Broncos began the day downing Xavier 6-1 in the morning match. Despite the cold weather outside, the Broncos got off to a hot start inside West Hills Athletic Club winning all three doubles matches to secure the doubles point. Senior Maik Stenier, sophomore

Matej Svjetlicic all earned wins in singles play.
In the second match, WMU topped Detroit 5-2, sweeping all doubles matches as the team and are now undefeated (6-0) in the spring for doubles. The remaining four points came off singles wins from Haupt, Svjetlicic, Opitz and
Nick Schnobel, who earned his first singles victory of the spring.
Following the day, Haupt is now on a five-match singles streak while Schnobel is riding a four-match streak in singles play. As a team, the Broncos hold a 9-3 singles record in dual matches.
Western Michigan will be on the road in Iowa for its next three games. WMU will play Iowa on Friday, January 19 then will play Drake on Saturday, January 20 and will wrap up the weekend against Tennessee Tech on Sunday, January 21.
