KALAMAZOO, Mich.- The Western Michigan men's soccer team (3-0-1) will be on the road this weekend for two games. On Friday, Sept. 8 the Broncos face Butler at 7 p.m. To end the weekend, the Broncos play Drake on Sunday, Sept. 10 at 4 p.m.

WMU WEEKEND RECAP
The Broncos tied Eastern Illinois 0-0 last Friday. WMU took 28 shots with 16 of them on goal. Senior midfielder
Brandon Bye took 13 shots in the game. The EIU goalkeeper made 16 saves to prevent WMU from scoring. Redshirt senior goalkeeper
Drew Shepherd recorded his second straight shutout.Â

Western Michigan came back strong Sunday with a 2-0 win over Cincinnati. Bye got on the board early with a goal in the 14
th minute. Bye leads the team in points with eight off of two goals and four assists. WMU outshot the Bearcats 21-5 in the game and consistently put pressure on the Bearcats. In the second half of the game WMU broke through to extend its lead to 2-0. Senior forward

DEFENSE
The Bronco defense has been stellar throughout the start of the season. WMU has not let a goal since the 31
st minute of the opening game against LIU Brooklyn. WMU is limiting its opponents to five shots per game with .300 percent of those on goal. The last time the Broncos recorded three shutouts in a row was the start of the 2015 season.

SCOUTING BUTLER
The Bulldogs have started their 2017 campaign with a 3-1-0 record, the only loss coming to No. 9 Louisville. The Bulldogs are currently ranked No. 21 in the nation. Leading the way for Butler is Lewis Suddick and Brandon Guhl. Suddick was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week last week tallying two goals and two assists. Guhl is leading the Bulldogs in goals with three. In goal for the Bulldogs is Eric Dick who has recorded 16 saves on the season with a 1.23 goals allowed average. Butler is averaging 11.5 shots per game with .413 of those landing on goal.

SCOUTING DRAKE
Drake has gotten off to a slow start at the beginning of the season. Drake is 0-3-0 with one of those losses coming against No. 4 Denver. In goal for Drake is Caden McCullough who has made 14 saves on the season and has a .667 save percentage. The Bulldogs are returning Steven Enna who was second on the team last year in points (11) and goals (5). Drake is averaging four shots per game with .333 of those being on goal.

NEXT FOR THE BRONCOS
 WMU plays in-state opponent Oakland on Wednesday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. Then on Sunday, Sept. 17 the Broncos return to the WMU Soccer Complex to host Dayton at 1 p.m.
