KALAMAZOO, Mich.- The United Soccer Coaches poll was released today and Western Michigan men's soccer team has moved up to No. 9 in the nation and remain ranked No. 1 in the Great Lakes region, for the second straight week.

The Broncos have been gaining national attention all year. The Broncos debuted in the top-25 this season on September 12 at No. 24. WMU moved up 12 spots the following week to No. 12 in the country. After a big win against No. 22 Michigan and UMBC the Broncos now have moved to No. 9 in the country. This is the first time in program history that the team is ranked inside the top-10. Â

WMU is highly ranked among division one teams in several statistical categories. The Broncos are ranked in the top-10 in the country in assists per game (3rd) 2.7, points per game (8th) 6.9, shots per game (5th) 17.0, shots on goal per game (6th) 7.7, total assists (2nd) 27, total goals (4th) 21 and total points (3rd) 69. The Broncos lead the country in won-lost-tied percentage with .950.

Jay McIntosh has the fourth most assists with six. Finally, senior midfielder

rd) 5.56, total goals (4
th) 7 and total points (4
th) 18. Bye leads the nation with shots on goal per game with 3.11.

The Broncos travel to play Portland on Friday, Sept. 29 for their next game starting at 10 p.m. EST. WMU will return to the WMU Soccer Complex next Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 4:30 p.m. for a top-10 matchup against No. 4 Michigan State. Admission to all home WMU soccer games is free.
