Volleyball Sweeps MAC West Awards

CLEVELAND – The Western Michigan volleyball team swept the weekly Mid-American Conference awards on Monday. Senior middle blocker Sydney LeMay was named MAC West Offensive Player of the Week, while sophomore libero Kathleen Reilly earned her third-straight MAC West Defensive Player of the Week honors.

LeMay averaged 3.62 kills on the weekend as the Broncos took down both the defending MAC West and East Champions. Against Northern Illinois she led the team with a season-high 18 kills and had a career-high six solo blocks to account for 26.0 total points in the 3-1 win. On the road at Miami she had 11 kills and a career-high eight digs in the 3-1 win.

Reilly averaged 6.0 digs per set on the weekend. Against the Huskies she helped limit their attacking percentage to .101 and had 20 digs. Against NIU she was also 24-for-25 on serve receipts. Against the RedHawks she had a game-high 28 digs, while helping hold them to an attacking percentage of .115.

The Broncos are back at home against state rivals Central Michigan on Friday at 7 p.m. and against Eastern Michigan at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
