The Western Michigan men's soccer team remained undefeated with a win against University of Maryland Baltimore County 2-0. The game-winning goal for the Broncos came from senior forward
Jay McIntosh in the 22
nd minute. Senior midfielder
Brandon Bye added to the Broncos lead in the second half.
"A great team win on the road against a very good UMBC team," said WMU head coach
Chad Wiseman. "McIntosh and Bye on the scoresheet again, they keep finding ways to impact games. It is a great example of two seniors laying it all on the line each and every game."
WMU was able to take advantage of their chances in the first half and scored in the 22
nd minute. Â Redshirt junior
Tommy Clark played a ball into the box that got between two defenders finding McIntosh for the goal. McIntosh's second goal of the season and Clark's fourth assist of the year.
In the 60
th minute the Broncos added to their lead with a goal from Bye, his seventh of the season. McIntosh took a shot that was saved which bounced to Bye who took a shot from the top of the 18 and hammered it home.
Redshirt senior goalkeeper
Drew Shepherd recorded three saves on the night for his sixth shutout and third-straight this season. Western Michigan's defense limited the Retrievers to only three shots on goal during the game.
"The men keep finding ways to win games, our games have been so different yet they have been able to make the adjustments needed to get the result they want," Wiseman added. "That team tonight was one of the most direct and athletic teams we will face. That was a fun college soccer match." Â
The Broncos remain on the road traveling to the West Coast facing Portland on Friday, Sept. 29 at 10 p.m.
