KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan women's soccer team hosts Valparaiso on Friday, at 5 p.m. to kick off WMU Soccer Alumni Weekend.

BRONCOS IN RHYTHM
WMU, currently on a two-game winning streak, pounced all over Youngstown State this past Sunday, winning 3-0. Â Goals for the Broncos came from senior defender Tiffany Buckler, senior defender Maria Jaramillo and team leading goal scorer sophomore midfielder Grace Labadie. WMU was able to keep possession for a majority of the game and keep the ball on its half of the field. The Broncos outshot the Penguins 23-10 and had 7 corner kicks compared to the Penguins 2. Redshirt senior goalkeeper Stephanie Heber recorded her third shut out on the year.

Western Michigan is outshooting (85-72) and averaging more goals per game (1.33-1.17) than its opponents so far this season. WMU has taken 14 more corner kicks than the teams they have faced. Grace Labadie is leading the Broncos in points with seven, off of three goals and an assist. Heber has made 30 saves this year and has a .811 save percentage on the year. Â

CLEAN SHEETS
WMU has had three shutouts on the season and has held opponents goalless for the last 194 minutes. The last goal scored against the Broncos was on Sept. 1 in the 76th minute of a 2-0 loss at Ohio State. Since then Western Michigan has clamped down with a 1-0 win over Fort Wayne and a 3-0 win over Youngstown State.

SCOUTING THE CRUSADERS
Valparaiso has won three of its last four games after having a slow start to the 2017 season. Leading the way for the Crusaders is Cory Griffith and Sydney Griffin with four goals each. The previous week Griffin and Kezia Gesell claimed Missouri Valley Conference offensive and defensive player of the week awards. Valpo is outshooting opponents 132-73 and taking more corner kicks, 48-16, this season. The Crusaders are averaging 16.5 shots per game with .439 landing on goal. Valpo has three shut outs on the season and are only allowing 1.00 goal per game. Â

The Broncos kick-off Mid-American Conference play with two away games, first on Friday, Sept. 22 at Buffalo beginning at 7 p.m. WMU then heads to Akron on Sunday, for a 3 p.m. kickoff.
