Bye Named MAC Player of Week & Top Drawer Team of the Week

KALAMAZOO, Mich.- Western Michigan senior midfielder Brandon Bye has been named Mid-American Conference Player of the Week and was selected to the TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week.

Bye also was named National Player of the Week by College Soccer News on Monday. Bye led the Broncos to three wins this week, recording a goal in each game (including two game-winners) and adding an assist for seven points on the week. In WMU's 2-0 win over Cincinnati, Bye scored the game-winning goal in the 14th minute and then assisted the Broncos' insurance goal in the 75th minute. On Friday, he recorded Western Michigan's second goal in a 3-2 win over nationally No. 15-ranked Butler in a 3-2 Bronco victory. It was WMU's first win over a ranked opponent since Oct. 26, 2014.

To finish out the weekend, Bye logged the game-winning goal in the 61st minute in a 2-1 win at Drake. Over the three games, Bye fired 21 shots, placing three on goal. Bye's performance has helped Western Michigan (5-0-1) go undefeated over its first six games.
