CLEVELAND – Western Michigan sophomore libero Kathleen Reilly has been named Mid-American Conference West Division Defensive Player of the Week.
Reilly helped the Broncos win the Holiday Inn West Invitational over the weekend, sweeping both Oakland and Southern Illinois 3-0. Against the Golden Grizzlies she had a game-high 22 digs and was a perfect 21-for-21 on serve receipts. She helped hold OU to a .129 hitting percentage as the Broncos picked up their fourth win of the season. Against SIU she had 11 digs and was a perfect 22-for-22 on serve receipts and helped hold the Salukis to a .140 hitting percentage. Reilly raised her digs per set average to 4.50 after posting a 5.50 average one the weekend now has a receive percentage of .946.
Western Michigan heads to Wilmington, N.C., for the Courtyard by Marriott Tournament hosted by UNC-Wilmington. WMU takes on Morgan State on Friday afternoon and then takes on Liberty earlier Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. and the host Seahawks at 7:30 p.m.
