Box Score CHARLESTON, ILL.- The Western Michigan men's soccer team tied Eastern Illinois at 0-0 today. The Broncos took 28 shots during the game with 16 of them being on goal.
"I'm extremely disappointed in the result, we created 28 shots, 16 of them on goal and a penalty," head coach Chad Wiseman said. "Not one player in a Bronco uniform was able to show some quality and/or composure in the final third today."
Redshirt senior goalkeeper Drew Shepherd recorded his second straight shutout and his 18th career. Senior midfielder Brandon Bye took 13 shots in the game. Sophomore Anthony Bowie received a yellow card in the 87th minute. The Broncos extended their streak of not conceding a goal to 225 minutes.
Eastern Illinois goalkeeper Mike Novotny recorded 16 saves in the game.
"The field conditions were horrible, but they were that way for both teams, so the men can't use that as an excuse. EIU competed hard today, that's certainly a credit to their coach." Wiseman stated. "I expect more from our guys. They should expect better from themselves."
Western Michigan returns to the WMU Soccer Complex Monday, Sept. 4 at 3 p.m. against Cincinnati.
