Franklin is WMU's career leader for rushing touchdowns with 41 and is 581 yards away from breaking Robert Sanford's school record of 4,219 career rushing yards. As a junior last season Franklin carried the ball 241 times for 1,300 yards on his way to Second Team All-MAC honors. As a freshman in 2014 he became first player in conference history to win both MAC Rookie of the Year and MAC Offensive Player of the Year in the same season.

Okorafor has started every game the last two seasons, playing both right and left tackle. During the 2016 MAC Championship season, WMU finished 24th in the nation in rushing offense and allowed just 16 sacks on the year, the 13th fewest total in the country.
Phillips is known as a ball hawk in the secondary and for his explosiveness on special teams. In 2016, he returned one kick return, one punt return and three interceptions for touchdowns. Along the way Phillips collected MAC Special Teams Player of the Year and First-Team All-MAC Defense honors.
Coming off a 13-1 record and Goodyear Cotton Bowl appearance last season, Western Michigan will be tested immediately in 2017. The Broncos open the season at No. 4 USC on Sept. 2. The game is scheduled for 5:22 ET and will be aired on the PAC-12 Network. WMU travels to Michigan State in week two, a 3:30 p.m. kickoff in East Lansing.
