KALAMAZOO, Mich.- The Western Michigan men's soccer team travels to the University of Detroit Mercy on Saturday, Aug. 19 for its last exhibition match at 12:00 p.m.
Â
Western Michigan began the 2017 season with a win in PKs against DePaul 1-1 (4-2) last Sunday, Aug. 13. Sophomore midfielderÂ
Anthony Bowie tied the match late to force PKs. SeniorÂ
Jay McIntosh gave WMU the lead in PKs 3-2 and juniorÂ

Â
"We have to show improvements in certain areas from last week. I believe we will, we had a very good week of training," said head coach
Chad Wiseman. "The matchup versus Detroit is always one that will involves physical challenges. We know they will play hard, with bite and will be very organized defensively.
Â
"It will be a great test for us, I expect you will see a good performance from the men. We still have starting positions and rotation spots to figure out. Saturday's exhibition should go along ways in sorting those spots out before the first regular season match."Â
Â
Detroit is coming off a 3-10-4 record in 2016. The Titans started their season with an exhibition matchup against Cincinnati last Friday, Aug. 11. The Titans won 3-1 with redshirt senior Tyler Moorman scoring two goals and freshman Mohamad Miri adding a late goal.
Â
The Broncos will look to get a good result and see which players will break out into the starting 11 and reserve spots.
