KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Zach Bock of the Western Michigan men's soccer team was named to the 2017 National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) First Team. The incoming senior was playing this summer for the Detroit City FC.

The All-NPSL Teams were voted on by league staff, fans, supporters and media members. The award includes First Team, Second Team, Third Team and Fourth Team. Each team consists of 11 players including a goalkeeper, four defenders, three midfielders and three forwards.
Detroit City FC, a member of the Midwest Region and Great Lakes Conference, finished their incredible season falling to Midland-Odessa FC in a 4-2 penalty shootout in the 2017 NPSL National Semifinals. Bock was one of four defenders across 94 teams in the country to be named to the First-Team All-NPSL starting in 10 games for City recording two assists.
Collegiate soccer players are allowed to participate on top-level men's amateur soccer clubs during the off season. A total of 16 Broncos suited up on teams across the NPSL and the Premier Development League (PDL) this summer.
Three Broncos were named to the NPSL Team of the Week including Bock (6/26),
Brandon Bye (6/19) and
Tommy Clark (6/26) while goalkeeper
Drew Shepherd was voted to the PDL Team of the Week back on June 15.
Bock enters his senior season at WMU this fall and will be a four-year starter helping anchor the Bronco defense. He was a First-Team All-Mid-American Conference selection and Second-Team All-Great-Lakes-Region Team selection last year as a junior. As a sophomore he was a Second-Team All-MAC selection.
