KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan athletic trainer Sarah McBrien, MS, AT, ATC, has received the Michigan Athletic Trainers' Society (MATS) Outstanding Young Professional Award on June 9, 2017.
McBrien, who is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA), has been the chair of the MATS Young Professionals Committee since 2016. In this role, she advocates for the profession of athletic training by providing resources and implementing mentorship programs to help develop young professionals in the state of Michigan.
McBrien has recently been named the Assistant Director of Medical Services and Head Football Athletic Trainer at Western Michigan University after being on staff for four years.
McBrien graduated from Grand Valley State with a Bachelor's degree of Science in athletic training in 2010. She then went on to earn a Master's degree in Kinesiology from Boise State University in 2012.
The MATS Outstanding Young Professional Award recognizes those whose activities, contributions, and service have contributed to the enhancement of the profession of athletic training in the state of Michigan and whose exemplary leadership as a young professional has had the ability to inspire others in a way that directly benefits the athletic training profession.
