LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Western Michigan track and field team fell short of qualifying for the NCAA Championships after missing the cut in the 4x400-meter relay on Saturday night.
The team of Jordan Anderson, Lindsey Hufnagel, Davonne Bolden and Keyera Lige combined to run a time of 3:43.97 and finished in 21st. The Broncos were the lone team in event in the region to represent the Mid-American Conference.
Anderson, Hufnagel and Lige all wrap up their Bronco careers on a high note. All three scored for WMU at the Mid-American Conference Outdoor Championship, with Hufnagel winning the 400-meter hurdles.
"Lindsey and Allison came in as roommates six years ago and both had illustrious careers," said head coach Kelly Lycan. "Jordan overcame a dizzying array of injuries throughout her previous five seasons and will end up as one of the best 800-meter runners in program history. Lindsey will go down as one of the most versatile athletes to ever run here. She was a former school record holder in the heptathlon, an event she had to give up due to injures. Her name is scattered htroughout our top ten lists in numerous events, as she has become arguably the best-ever combination sprint/hurdle/jump athlete in Bronco history."
