Michigan jumped on the Broncos in the bottom of the first. The Wolverines took a 3-0 lead off a three-run pop over the right center wall. Starting pitcher Anissa Sanchez pitched a scoreless second inning before Michigan added four more runs in the third.

The Broncos loaded the bases in the top of the third as senior Kelsea Cichocki started things off by wearing a pitch with one out. WMU followed it up with a pair of singles from senior Abby Stoner and redshirt junior Marlee Wilson but the Broncos were unable to push a run across.

Relief pitcher Holly VanTilburg pitched a scoreless fourth inning but the Wolverines were able to add one more run in the fifth to take the victory.

Western Michigan had three hits in the contest as sophomore Erin Barg, Stoner and Wilson went 1-for-2 on Tuesday. After the night, senior Ivy Schaaf ended her 12-game hitting streak while Stoner extended her streak to three games and has reached base in her last nine. Junior Sanchez took the loss, throwing 2.1 innings. VanTilburg pitched the final 1.2 innings giving up one run off three hits.

The Broncos close out the regular-season during this weekend's three-game home series against Ball State, May 5 & 6. The series with the Cardinals will be the final outing this season at Fran Ebert Field while Saturday's doubleheader will be Senior Day and Alumni Day.
